In no particular order..

1. The Shining. This one is probably in order, it's my all time favorite.
2. The Exorcist.
3. Session 9
4. The Amityville Horror (original). These days I find it kind of funny, but as a kid it probably did the most damage out of them all.
5. Event Horizon. Another all time favorite.
6. The Skeleton Key. I'll probably get crap from loving this one, but I can watch it over and over.
7. Jeepers Creepers 1 and 2.
8. The Mothman Prophecies. The legend wrapped up in truth scared the heck out of me. I had to sleep with the lights on after seeing it.
9. Poltergeist. STILL scares me when I watch it!
10. The Blair Witch Project. When it came out it was amazing. I felt my heart drop on the last scene of the movie. I haven't watched it since it came out.

There is a lot more I could add like all the slasher movies, but the ones that truly scare me are the ones where you have no idea what is after you. The scares are subtle, the entity unseen. I know Jeepers Creepers doesn't really fit that, but I couldn't leave those movies out. I like a lot of the comedy/horror movies as well. Slither, Eight Legged Freaks, I always watch them when they come on no matter how many times I've seen them.

I just don't think I could pick a top 10. But I like your way of thinking, SuperSonic. When you combine horror and Halloween, that's a winning combo. And I would totally include Alien and Aliens in your list, surely they count as horror.
