While I agree that people stealing patterns to sell or give away is terrible (no to mention illegal and immoral) but I think you can get into a slipery slope asking people to credit where they got the stencil from based on FB posts of their carves. To be clear, I do this. On Halloween I wear a Zombie Pumpkin T-shirt and tell folks all the time where I got the patterns from. And I do want to support Ryan and promote his success. I am all abut that. But I don't every time. I don't always post what restaurant made the dish of food porn I posted on FB or give a nod to Betty Crocker for the recipe of killer cookies I made.
I can understand from an artistic sense of pride wanting credit but I paid for the stencil (like I did the meal and Betty Crocker cookbook) so that is really all the credit due. Anything beyond that is just cool to do.
Not trying to start an arguement - just posting a point of view of a guy who paid for the pattern (real cash money, as Ryan wouldn't take my wooden nickels) and spent the time carving it.
For the other d-bags taking your intellectual property and trying to resell or claim they designed, I say sue the heck out of them or the very list get them to take it down.
Not an artist, just a dude that has always loved Halloween and carving jack-o-lanterns.
