Some of you may know that my party preperations, due to weather, did not get off to a great start. In fact about 2 hours before it started I was ready to throw in the towel. A cup of tea and a monster cookie got me out of my sulk. The party was fun despite half of my props missing.
Rule one for any halloween party is this "the 4 B's", bbq, bonfire, booze and bobbing for apples! Of course pumpkins, costumes and decorations are equally important.

Fistly I better show you a pic of me. I was a zombie ww2 pilot. My spitfire was shot down in enemy territory. I was all set to use my parachute but forgot to pack it. Too much fun at Winston Churchills house the night before had made me forgetful. Needless to say, I didn't survive the fall.

I hate that white face paint make your teeth look terrible!

Me and my brother with Oogie Boogie in the background. I did my brothers make up too.

My mum was a zombie 50's rocker (I did her makeup) and my dad a fisherman.
Image

I was attempting a scary face. I had one red contact in. I couldn't get the other one in. I did the ghostly guy on the left make up too, very quickly i might add.

A few more party goers that dressed up.

I did zombie wolverines make up.

Two of the graveyard. The pictures don't really show scale. If I come across any better GY picks i'll post em.

Awesome! You did a fantastic job on all of the makeup. Very nicely done (and time consuming I might add). I also really enjoy your decorations, very rustic and truly creepy. I like.

Brilliant. Love the make up. Love your Oogie projection and the costumes look amazing as does your set. Superb. That is a tremendous amount of work and it all looks stunning.

monstermash, you mentioned that you didn't get to do your entire display idea, but after seeing these photos... wow, you should have no regrets! I'm envious that you have this cool outdoor photos. Where I live, it's usually so cold on Halloween (this year it snowed!) So getting people to pose for photos outdoors is just a dream, usually.

Anyway, your pumpkins and graves and Oogie projection... oh, and all those costumes. You have a great crew. I wish I knew more people that were willing to dress up in costume. All these costumes in your photo are striking, ghoulish stuff. Most of the characters seem to be trapped in some other era, which I think is awesome. And even the more modern characters like Wolverine have been zombified!

Another one for the Halloween history books. Congrats and pulling off another fine celebration. Take a rest, because we have a lot of planning to do for next year!

Thanks folks, im sorry if your computer screens broke with that hideous first image! Everyone had a blast, I couldn't really be bothered but I played along. I'd have much rather watched a couple of horror flicks with some tasty snacks and a big glass of Winter Pimms!

We scots are tough, everyone stayed outside for the entire party, we did have a nice big bonfire and hot food though to keep people warm.
Someone brought a big pot of soup made with some questionable ingredients!! All I will say is there were lots of people going up for seconds, and thirds... Talk about monster munchies!!

Did you make your tombstones or buy them:? They look great.

I made them all myself. I used sheets of insulation and cut them to size/shape. I use a dremel for the engraving and any patterns and then wash over the whole stone with black paint to give it a grey, stone like look. Stick a few bits of real moss on here and there and you're done.

Everyone looks so great! I love that you were not just a regular zombie, but a WWII pilot zombie!

For a party gone bad, I'm envious. It looks great!

I can certainly understand being excited about new props and decorations and then being completely let down when that falls apart. Good to hear that you came around and had a great party despite the set backs.

The oogie boogie projection looks great there. That's a fun spot to take some Halloween pictures.

The costumes and make-up were fabulous. And it looks like the guests go quite a way with their costumes as well. Not just Wolverine, but zombie wolverine! That always makes for a great Halloween party.

How many people were there in all?

About 40. I think that was another reason why I was a bit let down by the whole thing. We asked a lot more people, probably another 40 which didn't show. I know everyone has their own lives to get on with but many people dont even rsvp anymore. That is the least they could have done considering they got a nice little matchbox invitation with hand painted matches inside!
I think its the same with lots of people. I noticed a similar lack of interest was felt in the carving party thread. The "others" that don't like or get halloween as much as us just don't know the work involved. I cant blame them for that. I did have fun though and spent a good while gossiping and having a laugh with a cousin I hardly see so it was all fine really.
