Pumpkin walls and Graveyard (in the making)

If all goes to plan, I should be able to have a party this year. And parties mean pumpkins. The past two years i've had my kins displayed on their own in a seperate area to my graveyard. I fancy incorporating the kins into the graveyard this year but don't know how to go about it.
Any ideas on a display method? A dead tree to place them in? Columns? Dunno. I'd love the opinion of you lot, who know best. :)= Fangs in advance.

Maybe have it where it relates to a certain Tombstone or do one or more of the Stone Grotesque orUndead Ted patterns, or maybe Audrey II or Zero. Have them set up to how you would like them: Gurdians, Ground Breakers, Graveyard weeds, or faithful dogs.

Thanks PM, really good ideas, I hadn't actually thought at all about the patterns that fit with a graveyard. Ive been looking for an excuse to do Undead Ted, he's one of my favs.

Undead Ted would definatly look better if you seperate it onto three pumpkins.

I think that is a great idea! That is what I am working towards in making my own tombstones. I plan to make stone for each of my foam kins. I started this madness last year...

I still love that display CorpseBride. I should try to make a tombstone sometime.

Mixing the pumpkins in as people said is always cool.

I would make the pumpkins form a barrier to sort of outline the graveyard, and inside them is the graveyard

Yeah Mes, I was thinking of putting them round the cemetery or all along the back on a wall or something. I'm slowly starting to piece it all together in my mind. I just hope I can actually get some good kins this year.

Hard to say. You had that nice fence around them last year but at night it might not show as well with jacks in front. However, I'd think in front of the fence would be good or a bunch all along the back might be a nice as well. Although at 20ft back the detail in the pumpkins might not be appreciated.

You could also make a pumpkin path that leads to the cemetery. People could walk along and enjoy the jacks when all of a sudden, they find themselves in the middle of a Zombie nightmare

How many pumpkins are you thinking of doing?

A pumpkin path, now theres a perfect idea!
Normally I do about 15 kins. That's not concrete, I can do a more or less. I carve by myself and normally do them all in one day so i'd do max 20. Maybe I could elevate the kins on either side of the path so they're not on the ground. Maybe a gradual incline. Off to the drawing board.
How are things in Japan by the way Mes?

Wow I could not do that many carvings in one day the most I have done is two a day. :o

Getting them off the ground will look great. I have placed mine on tree stumps in the past, but a cast iron rod stuck in the ground with a plate on top would make a nice effect of a floating pumpkin (to some extent.) The suspension kits are cool but you need something to hang them from.

Japan is OK. The reactors are still running wild and there's radiation being spread all over via wind and rain. We're 200-250 miles south-west but evidently they've just found some caesium in the soil at the local school grounds. Which means it's probably everywhere ... Other than that, Japan is fantastic :D

@pagemaster, It takes Ages to do them all in one day, if I have enough time I will spread them over two days.

Mes, sorry to hear the nuclear situation is still fragile. Radiation is like a virus the way it spreads.
I have heard Japan is a brilliant place to go, one day I will come a see it all for myself. Do you have a candy called Hi Chews? Im sure they are Japanese, I can only get them from Harvey Nichols for a stupid price but they're worth it. My all time favorite chew.

I was thinking of some sort of spike for the kins, it would probably be one of the easier solutions. Ive loads of trees in the garden for suspension kits but not where i want them for a pathway look. I could maybe get my hands on some tree stumps. Any excuse for a scavenge!! Im going to play around with a few spike ideas tomorrow and report back.

On the topic of raising pumpkins off the ground, you might want to check out this product: Punkin Post. If nothing else, it might give you ideas of how to securely prop up a pumpkin.

Cool product. It's given me food for thought. The section thats inserted into the ground looked very stable. The skeleton look would also work perfectly with the graveyard theme. Nice find Ryan.
Rigidity is my main concern after part of my display collapsed last year.
