You're going all out with the Ghostbusters theme, eh? I've always wanted to be a Ghostbuster. I had a toy PKE meter and ghost trap when I was younger.

Costume looks good. The fabric is likely going to be super thin. But you're going to get that with most affordable costumes. The only other option is to get a real jumpsuit, but then you're looking at a lot more work.

Not so sure about the inflatable proton pack though. But I don't know how you'd do that affordably. I'm such a perfectionist with my costumes, I'd probably spend my life savings to have a scientist build me a fully functional charged particle accelerator.

You can build your own proton pack relatively cheaply if you can follow these plans

http://www.gbfans.com/equipment/plans/stefan-otto/

You can also buy Venkman patches etc here.

You can get the basic plastic injection moulding from here

http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/gb ... index.html

Hard work done - all you need are the accessories to add on. Even I could do that bit. Maybe I will.

Great links, Nos. I'm not even planning a GB costume, but I want to put together some props now, just for the fun of it. Wouldn't a ghost trap look nice hung on my wall next to my Shaun cricket bat.

Maybe it's best that you stop looking at this proton pack. No sense teasing yourself. Most of us can't afford that... unless you're a scientist and can get a grant for your research. Hehe.

Well I've been looking on eBay to find a cheap plastic one and most of em only ship to the US so I'm trying to find one that will ship to Canada

Not a bad idea, they made some fairly realistic plastic ones back in the day, I think.

Whyso, I have been trying to find you a low cost alternative and this may just be the answer. If your heart is set on a Proton Pack - this kid must be about twelve and I think he's done a fab job using nothing more than household rubbish, duct tape, spray paint and a glue gun. Looks great and costs nothing.

I would happily sell my car to buy this. Don't think my wife would be best pleased though:

Why_So - I wouldn't necessarily go by the the photo on the BuyCostumes site. Costume companies sometimes go to great lengths to make a costume look great for a photo shoot. But when you receive it, you find out that the material and craftsmanship aren't what you expected. And sometimes the accessories shown aren't the same you receive (if they're included at all).

Not trying to burst your bubble of course. Just suggesting you read the fine print and don't get your hopes up to much before you actually see what it looks like in person.

Nosferatu - Those were some great links. The kid that made a proton pack out of household items did a nice job. I love the idea of being creative and crafty with found objects. That's probably why I have boxes and boxes of art/craft supplies, with various odds and ends. Never know when they might come in handy for a project.

And now... that proton pack with all the working lights and sound effects. That's like the real deal. With theme music option and all. *drooool*

No matter what, I hope you share some pictures of your Ghostbuster costume. In fact, I encourage everyone to dress up and show off your costumes. I love that stuff.
