Want to dress as Marty McFly (from the original Back to the Future) for Halloween? A Marty costume isn't too hard, you just need to find the most iconic parts and people will get it. Let's start with a couple wide shots to show the look:

Now here's what you'll need, going from head to toe...

aviator sunglasses
Gotta have these to do the pose from the poster, right?

Image

portable cassette tape player (original was a "silver AIWA model HSP-02" brand)
The headphones around the neck at least, could make for a full accessorized look

Image

maroon t-shirt
And purple Calvin Klein underwear, if you wanted to get REEAAALLY accurate

Image

white checked short-sleeve shirt (original was a "Shah Safari" brand)

Image

black 3/4 inch suspenders

Image

two-tone blue jean jacket (original was the "Guess MaaGuess Marciano" brand)
they don't make them anymore, any jacket will do though really, cuffs on the bottom help the look

Image

An "Art in Revolution" button, a Fender P-Bass pin, and some blue triangle shape pin
ok, you could probably get away with any buttons, but these would be the most screen accurate

Image

dark orange bubble down vest (original was a "Class-5" brand)
hey kid, what'd you do, jump ship? what's with the life preserver?

Image

calculator watch (original was the "Casio CA-53" brand)
another necessity to do that famous pose

Image

blue jeans

Image

low top Nikes, white leather, with red swoosh
(original was the "Nike Bruins" but "Nike Cortez" is close also)

oh, and his socks were grey, by the way

You can also carry your full size camcorder and skateboard. Or if you want to travel light, maybe just some prinatable paper props, like a Save the Clock Tower flyer.
