Preparations for pumpkin parade are being finalised

(Published Date: 30 September 2009)

Preparations have been finalised for this year's pumpkin parade in Spalding.
The festival begins on Saturday with a pumpkin throwing competition at the Castle Playing Field in Spalding between 10am and 1pm.

On Sunday there will be workshops in libraries throughout the district, involving young people taking part in various arts projects.

The main parade will take place in Spalding town centre on October 9 between 10am and 9pm, where there will be children's rides, live music and entertainment for people of all ages including face painting, a fancy dress competition and an open-air market selling all sorts of pumpkin- related treats.

The pumpkin parade takes place at 6.30pm and will be led by the Flower Queen in her pumpkin coach.

Head of Economic and Community Development, Sue Bolter, said: "The pumpkin parade continues to be a popular community event and this year's line up looks set to be the best ever. This is an excellent opportunity for the family to spend some quality time enjoying this local celebration of 'all things pumpkin'."
