That. Or another thing I would do is try a Phantom Phrase or Grinning Jack. All easy patterns to get used to how Ryan's cut outs work.

I'm also pretty sure that the site uses email to register, as far as I am aware there isn't a "form" per se.

How about some of the grinning jacks or Nightmare Before Christmas characters? Some are easier to do (without being boring) and once you're done you can instantly recognize who you've carved which is a good feeling
