As of the first week of August, the shelves at my local Michaels is pretty much stocked with their Halloween products for this year. I went on a recon mission and took some photos...

Various shiny, sparkly and dangling decor. Much of these look similar to what they had last year:

Cute and colorful candles and candle holders:

The annual array of figure busts and tombstones:

Some very cool changing portraits:

Their array of props - spiders, bones, chains and limbs:

The Spooky Town animated village pieces are mostly contained on one aisle end-cap here:

Some more Spooky Town items and larger decor items:

Potions and poisons:

Sickeningly cute figurines:

Bright and pun-filled signage:

And... the radiant orange mecca for pumpkin lovers:

Note all the tools near the pumpkins... LED lights, Versa Tool, battery-powered carvers, artificial carving kits, Jack-o-ripper scoops, etc.

They have pumpkins in three sizes. The full size is priced regularly at $21.99, mediums at $12.99 and small ones at $8.99

Those prices are a bit high, you can do better by waiting for a sale (pretty much a constant occurrence, especially once Halloween is close and they want to start moving them out). You can also check for weekly COUPONS.

Check the COUPON link for next week's discount offerings which includes 40% off any item. That will get you a large pumpkin for under $14.

And then in the next aisle we have the Christmas goods. Wait... what?!

Looking at pictures saying ohhhhhhhhhhhhh and ahhhhhhhhhhh then I saw the Christmas stuff that should not be out until October.

How much did you buy Patch Master?

I bought one big pumpkin, because I wanted to test out the new version they are offering this year. And that's it for now. Once I test the quality (and have coupons in hand) I might go back for more.

And as for the rest of the decoration items, nothing caught my eye really. Much of their stuff is similar to what they usually carry... and I've already bought everything that I liked in the past. I have a couple busts sitting on top of my desk (which I like better than the busts I saw this year so far).

Looks like I didn't capture the price tag in my photos for those large tombstones with the lenticular changing portraits embedded. The small size of the similar item (shown on middle shelf) is $15.

Lenticular ZP art would be cool!

I see a few items I wouldn't mind adding to my collection. I especially like the larger tombstone on the right. Great details! I have a feeling its going to be a bad Halloween on the checkbook this year. Wait...it is every year

Michaels often (in Canada anyways) puts out a special coupon that allows 30-40% off your entire purchase instead of the standard 40% off one item. The only way to get these special coupons is to be on the mailing list.

This year I think I'm going to make a custom rhinestone skull to go with my disco mirror skull. It'll take forever but I think it'll look really cool.

Why do we never get foam pumpkins in the UK?! :(

Some of that stuff looks great though, love the tombstones and the little busts. Nowhere here stocks such good Halloween items. Probably just as well, my wallet couldn't handle it!

I have a few more jumbo size boxes of funkins in the garage, so down to my last 18 I guess :)=

At my Micheals they had there Craft Pumpkins at thirty percent off.

Went there yesterday, bought some foam pumpkins and someother stuff, but I did not leave with out giving something back. I posted some ZP! fliers on the bins of craft pumpkins.

I happened to pass by a Michaels store in a different town, so I stopped in to see if they had anything different from my local shop.

Image

Pagemaster --you're right, the pumpkins were 30% this week. Good time to pick one up if you're itching to carve some foam. Oh, and thanks for leaving some ZP fliers there!

GUS -- the large tombstones (the pillared 3d ones with lenticular photo) are $29.99 USD.

Looking at their skeletons, I realized that I already own both styles pictured here. They were given to me as gifts, now I know where they came from. One is 1.5 feet long, the other is about 3 feet.

Image

A couple other new things I spotted.... these witch hats and skulls, suitable for painting. The skulls look like the masks they had last year, but they are smaller and full skulls with backs, not just front faces.

Image

And they also had these vinyl figures to paint on. No longer part of a boxed kit with markers and stickers, you just buy these loose and do what you want with them. They're a bit smaller than the similar item seen last year. 3.5" tall for $1.99 each. I think the bat is new. Cute.

I did not see the little figures at my Michael's, they did not have many Skeletons either, but the rest of the stuff they had.

I have a question about the "moving" picture frames. Are they those simple change the position type pictures of old or are they LCD screens?

I'm going to do a haunted house and having a little spot where pictures change would be great! Maybe a small mantle with my coffin next to it.

I also really need more skeletons ... Anyone want to go shopping for me :D
