How long can I keep a pumpkin whole untouched? I want to do a carving for thanksgivng. Can you freeze a pumpkin then thaw it for the table? Anyone had experience with this?

As long as they aren't infected with this fungus plague we've heard about, the pumpkins you buy now should still be fine by Halloween. I used a leftover Halloween pumpkin to carve a Thanksgiving centerpiece last year:

they should last until Thanksgiving.

last year my mom put a few pumpkins out on the front porch for decoration, and they lasted until March.

Keep any gourd in a cool dry place and they will last for quite some time... Of course Ryan is right, unless the pumpkin plague is on it.

thanks I have never thought past halloween for pumpkins before but the turkey stencil so I have to do one for my mother in-laws
