I like to add a few things to the inside roof of my real pumpkins - whole cloves and cinnamon. Once the candle warms up you get a pumpkin pie like smell that can actually get pretty strong if you have enough pumpkins in the right spot. I usually do this for 4-5 kins that are bunch together. If they are indoors, it smells great, outdoors well it depens of the wind. I have a good spot by my front door (like a semi open hallway) that usually keeps the scent right there as you start the 10 foot walk to my door.

That is if you want a sweet smelling one...I suppose you could do cajun spices if you have swamp theme or cat food if you went with a zombioe theme...

Just a tip, not going to lie I think I got it from Martha Stewart quite a few years ago...
