I still have to update the site with information about the previous two years charities. But yes, Zombie Pumpkins makes a donation each season to a good cause.

The choices for this year are narrowed down to a few, but the final choice hasn't been decided. Anyone have any last minute suggestions for where this year's donation can go?

I personally don't have any suggestions. I'm sure whatever you decide will be fine. You seem to put alot of thought into it. I.was just more our less curious because I renewed my membership and Amanda and I started discussing it, so I thought id ask.

Anything with kids takes my vote. I am studying pediatric medicine right now and it is truly heartwrenching the things I am learning and seeing.

St. Baldrick's Foundation!

SBF raises money for childhood cancer research. Events are held all over the world where people shave their heads to raise money for research. I have shaved mine for four years and will be again in 2011!

Any thing to do with recuperation after brain injury.

As someone who has had more than their fair share of this I know how hard a struggle coping with life can be after this especially with no outward scarring.
My career was wrecked, earning potential, paralysis, moods & memory (lack of) make it a struggle, yet head injuries are so overlooked people simply have to cope for themselves.

I'm also very lucky, a head injury causes many folk to live somewhat like a whiney child for the rest of their lives, kids mind adult body.
Typically you only have around 6 months to gain back what was lost, in alot of cases not enough time to even be diagnosed & get on a very rare recovery program.
Failing that money towards a spinal injuries unit, as the victims also tend to have their life ripped away from them, adjustment from physically capable to a wheelchair often ends in suicide down the line.

All worthy causes. Too many charities, not enough money.

Suzika wins the minion charity award though. Shaving your head for such a worthy cause every year is an amazing and selfless act. When you next do it, please let me know if you need sponsoring.

As the father of two children, obviously anything that involves children gets my attention. The last 18 months has taught my that life is such a precious gift and an extremely fragile one. Like I said too many worthy causes and not enough money.

I think these days people don't realise that any donation, however small the amount, is greatly appreciated. Times are hard, of that there is no doubt and a lot of smaller, non- fashionable charities get overlooked like GUS mentioned.

I'm sure whatever Charity is chosen will be more than deserving, particularly Save Canada From GUS where I believe donations are flying in!

How about just "Get GUS"?

It involves hiring a hitman which technically could be treated as a charity. Certainly a worthy cause.......

On a serious note, I know someone who suffered brain trauma who probably would have had a horrible past few years had it not been for the dedication of her family and the charity that helps her. Although by no means recovered, the results they have achieved have been astounding. The work that they and all charities do is very humbling.
