Sharing knowledge for the art of artificial craft pumpkins.

I've used the same setup as Pumpken for a few years now. I initially bought LED christmas lights to staple onto the shelves I built, but they didn't make the pumpkins nearly bright enough, nor did it have the right glow.

I switched to old white incandescent C9 bulbs and they work amazingly. Most people can't even tell they aren't real pumpkins at first glance, and they are so bright you can make out the patterns from the street.

They do get a little hot, but I've displayed them for hours and I've never had anything melt or go wrong.

What's really great about that setup is you just need to drill a hole in the bottom of each pumpkin a little larger than the socket but smaller than the bulb. That way, you unscrew the bulb, mount the pumpkin over the socket, and then screw it back in. The bulb holds the pumpkin in place, so your pumpkins can't get blown or knocked over.

I'm never touching those terrible fake tea lights again.
