I love my local hookup! He hid about half of these in his truck knowing I'd buy them. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v69/starparty/Halloween%202011/320244_10150326923113562_548338561_8030562_772485539_n.jpg 14 from Lucas at the farm market today and 5 from Kroger yesterday. You are welcome! I love flipping through it. The patterns are so different than I am used to doing nowadays. They sold the saws flat and you assembled them before you carved!

I'll scan in the rest of the instruction pages later this evening!

I hauled out the pattern archive this past Sunday and came across my copy of the original book the Bardeens put out in 1986. This is the book that really started my love of carving. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v69/starparty/Pumpkin%20Masters%20Original%20Book/PM1.jpg I scanned in the first few...

In other blogging news, I posted a new entry. A welcome to October, and an urge to start your celebrating NOW. Better early than never (as inspired by a topic in this very forum): I have actually printed that blog post out and hung it up at work. I've been getting some flack for being "too early" w...

You Could get a Piece of Rebar (at homedepot) Hammer it in the Ground, and Put one of the birds on that, So it looks like it's In the Sling Shot. Great idea! I was trying to figure out how to have it supported since the wire on the slingshot isn't very strong, but REBAR IS PERFECT! Thank you! I lov...

I've actually gone non-Halloween lights after having similar issues. I have these lights from Harbor Freight that seem to work well. http://www.harborfreight.com/27-led-portable-worklight-flashlight-67227.html They are a brilliant white with a slight blue cast. With fresh batteries they last about 4...

Actually, the last foam pumpkin I carved with the Versa tool, I realized I did almost all of it by holding the tool in a fist grip, with the blade pointed down (think - ice pick stabbing pose). While it doesn't seem like you'd get the most accurate control that way, it gave me a more stable grip an...

Thank you! This is a little blurry (I started to fall down the hill) but the colors are working out GREAT! My camera didn't pick it up very well, but the pigs are green, not blue! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v69/starparty/Halloween%202011/2011-10-01_21-35-14_937.jpg I took the colored cellopha...

I've just started using a versa this month, but I found that this helps me: Just barely trace the edges with the tip of the blade (don't worry about the depth of the foam) to make an outline and make the finished lines in the orange rind. After the whole section has been cut, trace it again with the...
