I do a mix of both cut through and shading depending if I am carving real or fake pumpkins. I like the shading technique on real pumpkins becuase they tend a last a little longer when they are etched than carved all the way through. You can use a variety of tools for the effect. Pumpkin Masters dye ...

About two years ago I got a Disney Winne the Poo CD which had about 2/3 of an old halloween soundtrack from the late 1970's. It's well worth the $5 I spent on it. There is a frekenstein scene where he escapes, grave diggers, and several more. I will try to dig it out and get the title for those that...

I have one friend that soaks her pumpkins in the swimming pool. The water rehydrates them and the chlorine retards the mold growth.

Also Pumpkin Dunk'n worked well, but to my knowledge they don't make it anymore. One of my other posts had the details of how well it worked.

Liderc-

I use the pumpkin Masters foam carving saws and they work well, but are slow going. Also the suggest of using an exacto knife would work as well. Could it be you got one of the decorative pumpkins not for carving by mistake? Michaels does sell some decorative one that are not for carving.

Anyways for light cuts you don't need to apply much pressure, for deeper cuts apply more pressure. It...
