Great job on the VIPs this year Ryan. My head... er, I mean hat.... is off to you!
Jack was done on a small foam pumpkin from Michaels with the Versa Tool. Night Owl was a little rough but the pumpkin walls were so thick. I tried to thin them with the gutter, but the back side was cut off the pumpkin due to frost and I couldn't quite get the drill in far enough...
Well, I am off to a slow start, but here are the first of my carves for this year: http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/304020_10150880384765004_531835003_20871169_1054603510_n.jpg http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/297196_10150446496026217_550176216_11002909_1717916986_n.jpg A...
I second that motion! It would have to be the Crue from the 80's though!
I have carved 20+ foam Michaels pumpkins with the VersaTool and can't think of any other way to do them. I find it cuts through them so easily. It is a little tricky to make certain cuts, but it just takes a little practice. The curves are tricky but like I said, it just takes some practice. Here ar...

I had a really great time. There were a lot of kids there that were fascinated with the size of the pumpkin alone. The fact that it was different from a regular jack-o-lantern was just the icing on the cake. I think if I were to do it again, I would hope for no frost, so that the top could come off ...
Thanks guys. I managed pretty well with the monster pumpkin. I took the Pumpkin Gutter to it to thin it out some and luckily had a flat surface to carve on. (The pumpkin had some frost on the top side, which was cut off, so I carved the side that had been on the ground.) Here's what I ended up with:...

Has anyone carved a GIANT pumpkin? My friends have asked me to carve the giant pumpkin from their farm (think 300-400 pounds)! Wondering if anyone has had this experiene and if you have any advice. Thanks!
Here's one of me and the family this summer.

I know they are kind of cutsey but the Gabba gang would be kind of fun.
I would definately be carving a Stephen King pumpkin if Ryan were to give us one. He is one of my favorite authors and I can't think of anyone creepier!
