By now the dust has settled, the candles have flickered out, and the Zombie Pumpkins have rolled back to the patch to slumber until next fall. Another Halloween season slowly fades away into memory.
Thanks to all you enthusiastic members for making this 5th anniversary of Zombie Pumpkins the biggest and best yet! I say it every year at this time, but I simply can't wait to get started on plans for next Halloween.
But the season of the Seed is not over quite yet. Look for several more updates in the coming months, including the 2007 Gruesome Galleries, additional Peculiar Press, charity updates and some other spirited surprises.
And don't forget, you have until the end of this month to submit your photos for the Creepy Carving Contest. Let's see your best shot.

Since you'll be carving your pumpkins very soon, now is a good time to remind you about the Creepy Contests. Your pumpkins may rot, but they'll live on forever if you take a good photograph. And that very picture could win you some prizes. Follow these rules and take a stab at this crafty competition.

There are also two new methods to browse the Petrifying Patterns.
The master pattern list lets you eyeball all the pumpkin pattern names on one page. And with the search box on the main patterns page, you can query the zombie gods and see what sort of search results are unearthed.

Rue Morgue's annual Halloween issue is on magazine racks now. Celebrating their 10th Anniversary, they really packed this issue with gory goods. And one of the best features to look for? An advertisement for a certain pumpkin carving site on page 80.
Their cover story celebrates the silver anniversary of John Carpenter's masterpiece alien invasion movie The Thing. And apparently this parasitic creature can even take the form of a pumpkin. Print The Thing on the Movie Monsters page before it assimilates you.

The 2007 Zombie Pumpkins! season officially starts today!
Celebrating its 5th year, our little monster is really growing up.
The theme this time: "Seed of the Zombie Pumpkins!"
Sprouting up from the ground,
a new mouth to feed.
They come in all sizes,
and this one's a bad seed!
So what's new this time around? The Petrifying Patterns page will soon be updated with plenty of pumpkin patterns. The first of which is Michael Myers (2007) on the Movie Monsters page. Also keep an eye on the Grinning Jacks section for some traditional faces popping up this season.
The Sickening Store is stocked with more gory goods than ever. As usual, there are new shirt designs, even kid sizes for your little sprout. And since pumpkin carving is what this is all about, check out the carving tools and accessories new for this year.
For new members wishing to JOIN US, the new pricing plans offer several new incentives such as free gifts and entry into a random drawing contest. And in honor of this season's child-like theme, a portion of the payments received will be going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
There are other areas of new content too, which will start filling with tricks and treats as Halloween gets closer. But I'll leave the rest of the exploring up to you.

We're approaching the end of August and you know what that means. The stores are filling up with Halloween merchandise, and my inbox is filling up with emails from people asking, "Will you be putting up any new pumpkin patterns this year?" As always, the answer is of course - YES! New stencils will emerge from the Zombie Pumpkin patch at the start of September. Start sharpening your knives.

Summer officially starts on the solstice of June 21. Many people kick off the season even sooner with Memorial Day picnics on May 28. But I can't wait for either of those dates. Here at Zombie Pumpkins, watermelon carving season begins now.
A new stencil is making waves on the Summer Spirits page.
The first design of 2007 is the appropriately named Summer Redstein. A Siamese fighting fish, she's sure to make a big splash.

In response to our charity drive from last Halloween, I received a thank you letter from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. Here's an excerpt of the letter that just arrived at ZP HQ:
