My Pet Monster (done)

I use to watch this when I was a child and had the toy. My mother hated it thought it was an ugly old thing. Not sure why but I think this may be the next pattern.

Never heard of it until now, so I Googled it. I think it could lead to an interesting Unique Creation pattern

Ajax, it's like you have a sixth sense for this kind of thing. How convenient that you set up a request thread right before I unleashed this monster.

He's big, he's furry, and he's breaking loose. Chains can't hold him. There's no end to the fun you can scare up with My Pet Monster.

pagemaster1993, based on your username, this toy craze was born in the decade before you (although there have been relaunches since). The toy I remember was the original though, one of the few stuffed animal "dolls" to be marketed to boys. Known for his bright orange chains, which he could break apart. Sadly, I never had one, but I sure wanted one. Here's the retro commercial to educate you, or stir up some nostalgia. "Grrrrrr!"

Wow did not expect that so fast. Also a new pattern section. Wow. It is pretty cool.

I don't remember these, I must have been too busy playing with my Polly Pockets.
Nice pattern though, even if you don't you who My Pet Monster Is.

And it's ok Ryan, you dont have to make a Polly Pocket stencil. :)
They're coming to get you, Barbara!

Does My Pet Monster refer to the toy or the child?

I have no idea what this is but the pattern is cool

Excellent pattern! I never heard of it until today, but it looks like it could be a fun carve.

O......M.....G. I didn't know what this was at first so I watched the intro of the cartoon on youtube. I was then magically transported to a 2 year old me watching this show. I actually don't know when I watched it but I know I watched this when I was young but then forgot all about it. Thanks for making a cool cult classic like this Ryan.

I used to love watching the cartoon as well. I think you can still watch it on Teletoon Retro in Canada. I think the toys came first though...

That's cool that some of you had this toy (or have it still... Punchi, I want to see a photo!)

Yeah, it's my understanding that My Pet Monster was a toy first. But like so many 80s toys, it spawned a cartoon to help sell more toys. The cartoon ran for one season. And then it was also turned into a live action movie for TV. Which looks... pretty horrible and yet awesome.
