Same here. I feel that photographing the carved pumpkin is like a mandatory step in the process. So much so that I even list it on my instructions page is if it's a requirement. Hey, these things do rot. And eventually the photos will be all we have to remember them by. So snap those pics while the carve is fresh!
Not to mention the fact that taking photos allows you to share your work with other carvers, through a site like this one. An audience that you know understands your obsession.
