Given the worldwide wintry conditions and the fact that I seem to have been building snowmen constantly since mid December, I thought I'd try and track down a zombie snowman. This is the best I could find:

Phew, I made it to sunrise and killed 212 zombie snowmen in the process. It got a little hectic at the end there!
I like the use of "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" music for this. I've always thought it was a pretty piece of music, but also potentially very creepy in the right setting.
Those zombie snowmen were pretty ugly. I've had my share of encounters with similar beasts....

I remember that card from last year!
Those snowmen are funny. We are due more snow on Wednesday so I may use some of those ideas. We used green food colouring and used a water sprayer on our snowmen.
The first one looked as if he had been weed on by a giant dog. After adding a lot more food colouring, the other one looked like it had gangrene. Not quite the effect we were trying to achieve.

I first made a basic snowman shape, then began to scrape away from it gradually, sculpting the shapes I wanted. I used a pointy spoon to dig away the excess snow (making gaps between the ribs, eye sockets, etc).
Once the shapes were close to what I wanted, I sprayed some cold water on the snow, using a water bottle with a trigger that sprays a mist. Wetting the snow like this helped it pack together tighter, for more detailed fine-tuning sculpting. It also allowed the snow to look smoother, and when the water froze, it was pretty strong.
This was all done with experimentation, but I bet I could do something really crazy and detailed if I put my mind to it.
