So I decided to go this year as Captain Spaulding (no surprise there). Since I'm a bug guy, I can't find an actual costume to fit me, so Im going with what is pictured below.

However, I CANNOT FIND SIMILAR PANTS! Nothing even close. Maybe you guys have some suggestions on places to find them..The ruffles are not necessary. Just mainly the design. Color doesn't matter either.

Thanks! Sorry the pic is small...here is a better one

Know anyone with a sewing machine? Maybe you could find polka-dot cloth at a fabric store, and whip up a pair of clown trousers with a basic pants pattern.

I took a quick peek on eBay and it seems all the clown pants are either striped, checkered, or plaid. No love for the dots.

Yea, I looked on ebay first thing. My wife had mentioned maybe finding a pants pattern, but I don't know anyone that I would want to burden. However, if push comes to shove, I will get my mother-in-law to sew me a pair of pants.

I would really like to find something online, but I don't believe I am going to have much luck with it.

I searched until my poor little brain couldn't take it anymore.

The black and white clown pants

YEAY sewing patterns, you can order online or most walmarts/ Fabric store carry simplicity patterns...however this pattern itself is retired i believe their new clown ones are more big comfy couch so you would probably have to get online... :D Really not hard at all if you can find or borrow a machine you'll be able to do it
MCCalls Has one to as well avalible almost everywhere this one is not retired but not quite as close

So my advice is find a fabric even just the right colour....remember stencils and spray paint can be fabrics best friend also known as the cheater screen printing let dry and sew away....perhaps instead of dots ryan's spaulding pattern could be plastered on your pants
here's a tut on spraypainting things on clothes

They are really easy to sew patterns both mccalls and simplicity you could probably free hand a pattern if you're an experienced enough sewer just use newspaper and remember to add a 2 inch seam allowance
Glad you found on you can use

OK, how about bodging it this way?

Buy a pait of white "chefs" / kitchen whites.

Grab some thickish adhesive backed card.

Cut from canning lids sticky circles, apply firmly to material..

Using a cheap airbrush lightly spray part of leg at a time (so paint doesnt soak & bleed)
That would be my way out..

(i'd also have a pair of "mooning" smiley's on my backside for a personal touch
