i hate valentines day so much its just another day that card companies made up so they would have better business and it makes everyone who's single fell like because they don't have anyone. So do you hate valentines day? why/ Why not? if you hate it like me wear black that day.

Umm...hmmm. Well, if this is a serious post I guess I will answer. Valentine's Day is what YOU make it. I've been single plenty of V-day's and never whined about poor single me. On those years my best friends little boy or my nephew became my valentine. There is no rules saying you have to be in love or that you have to buy cards, candy or flowers. Valentine's Day is a celebration for St. Valentine who, by the way, is NOT the patron saint of love. The sappy love stuff came long after. And while I do give my husband chocolate as a gift, it's mainly because I want to eat it, not because I feel obligated to buy stuff. Letting a certain day make you miserable is giving it a little too much power over you.

I've learned that every holiday is just another day, and so it's really all about what you make of it. You can choose to observe the traditions if that will make you happy. Or you can choose to totally ignore the holiday and do some other activity that you enjoy.

Also, Valentine's Day doesn't just have to be for those in a relationship. There are plenty of things you can do to show love for friends, family, or your fellow human being. Send a funny valentine card to a friend. Give a rose to a total stranger and make their day. Or truly give from the heart, and go donate blood. You'll make someone out there feel good, and probably feel better about yourself too.

Mrs Zombombie and I don't really do Valentines Day, though I like to surprise her with flowers (though I do this randomly anyway... you know for the surprise factor...)

In fact this year, my nephew is coming to stay over on Valentines night then we're heading to see The Lego movie together the day after :D It's fun, it's like we have a kid but then we get to give him back and be thankful we don't have a kid ;)

zombombie, that sounds like a fun time with your loaner-child. How old is your nephew anyway? That Lego movie is right up your alley.

I'm all for doing sweet or fun things on Valentines Day, but it doesn't have to be limited to that day. Do fun or thoughtful things on random days of the year.

Those are the best kind of kids to have. I have a few of those myself. :)

Whenever I take my children to the cinema, as I'm watching the film I always think to myself, "This would be great if there were no children in here whatsoever!" I normally miss a lot on escort duty to the toilets and inevitably wait for it to come out on DVD.

We have found a great, new, independent cinema nearby. It only has two small screens but popcorn is served in porcelain bowls , sweets in miniature tin buckets and drinks are in a glass. A proper glass. The bathrooms have proper towels! Best bit is that it is cheaper than the local multiplex.

Looking forward to the a Lego movie. I really like their I house mini movies but this has been shot in a different style. Plenty of merchandise tie ins no doubt. Although I love Lego as much as my children, if not more.

Ah, flowers. I used to be like that. After a few years of marriage though, the only flowers you end up wanting to buy your wife is a wreath. That's a joke incidentally. My wife occasionally reads some of my posts and I'm sure that if she were to read that and I were to buy flowers to apologize, she would tell me what to do with them! Romance eh?
