Hi, I was curious if anyone had a solution to this problem. The last couple years (2012, that b**** Hurricane Sandy....and 2013 I am getting over health problems), I have not been able to carve all my pumpkins. I saved the ones I didn't carve in a couple of garbage cans in the back yard (so the squirrels, and other wild life won't get to them), but by Christmas they start to rot. Is there anything I can do to keep them from rotting....or anyplace I can put them? HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! :)

My only advice is keeping them cool (without freezing) and as dry as possible. I've had one last till January before it developed a small soft spot. You can always try a bleach/water bath or spraying with Lysol to keep the mold from growing for a while longer. Normally I just can't keep them too long to worry about it, I must carve them all!
