For the Rock Gods section, the artists themselves are a common choice. But their album covers and mascots can make even better stencils because they look scary and cool, even if you don't know who the band is. A lot of people carved the Crimson Ghost stencil just because it looks cool, without even being aware of the movie or band that use that image.

It looks like Megadeth and deviantART held a contest recently to redesign ol' Vic. Some pretty cool images here:
