I read the first two books over the weekend, and I really liked them. Has anyone else read them or do you plan on reading them?

I have read them all, and they are not to bad. I thought it pretty obvious the writer is not a seasoned, skilled writer. Not half bad though and better than I could have done! I carved a "team Jacob" pumpkin this year for my sister in law who is a huge fan. I will see the movie and I'm hoping for some patterns on the site next year.

I've read that a lot people didn't like the 4th book... I'll just have to read and see.

I saw your Team Jacob pumpkin, but at the time had no idea what it meant. lol.

I know what you mean about the writing, she's definitely not up there with Jo Rowling or Stephen King, BUT Twilight does have the romance!

Also, I've noticed a lot of typos and sentences where a word has been left out. I'm not sure that's the writers fault, but still it doesn't look very professional!

I would definitely carve some Twilight pumpkins!!!

<raises hand> I've poured over all of the books several times, have them all on my mp3, and have my tickets for the movie!

I, too, was not thrilled with everything in the fourth book. I can agree that she doesn't have the seasoning or wit of Rowling, however she does do a great job of getting the emotional pull into her books with characters that you like no matter the literary flaws. The plots aren't complex, the reading level isn't terribly high, but still I found them very enjoyable.

On a larger level, Twilight mania is HUGE! Maybe we'll find a Twilight or Edward pattern here next year. :D

I have not yet seen the movie. My sister in law loved it, however my 10 year old niece was a bit disappointed in it. She felt to much was cut out and that it seemed rushed to her. Once I see it I will post again.

I read all four in two weeks. I enjoyed them but it's true, she's no Anna Rice. The fourth book was a little strange. I was a little disappointed with the movie. I found some of the actors were not convincing. And what's with Jasper? He looks stunned.

hehe.. I thought that about Jasper also. I was waiting for his eyes to just pop out.

I still hope for a pattern or two this year. I think it's popular enough most people will know about it.

I planned to see the movie before I read the books but it didn't work out and I ended up reading the books in under 2 weeks over the Christmas break. I think there was too much repetition of certain themes in the books. I got how white they were and how beautiful they were blah blah blah but overall they were enjoyable if a little primitive in writing style. The 4th one was a bit odd.

Now to the film. Oh dear. It was good for a laugh I suppose. I about wet myself trying to giggle quietly every time Jasper came on. i expected more from the makeup as well. I thought you could do almost anything in this day and age but it just looked like they had been having a flour fight. :D I also thought there wasn't enough detail in it and would have benefitted from being slightly longer to accommodate this.

Overall an OK movie but I have to remember it is aimed at a young audience not and old wrinkly like me.

I believe the second movie will have a new director. Hopefully they will do a little better.

I will agree the 4th book was weird.

I recently went to a seminar at the University of TN. to see Dr. Bill Bass talk. Dr. Bass is a forensic anthropologist and the founder of the "body farm" here in Knoxville. As I was watching people come in I noticed 3 different women wearing "Twilight" t-shirts. It seems pretty popular around here.

You saw Dr. Bass? He's amazing! I'm very jealous. How was the seminar? What was the topic?

And speaking of topic, just to stay on it... I've read the first one, just started the second but have yet to see the movie. The soundtrack, however has some gems on it for sure!!

I have actually seen him a few times. Living in Knoxville has some perks like that. :) This time the topic was on cremation. Quite interesting. Jon Jefferson was present and spoke briefly about the new book they have coming out February 3rd. Book signing on the 4th. I'm planning on getting the book and having it signed. Maybe I should ask about zombies if I go....
