I've never tried a battery operated saw before. I have two of the ZP carving tool kits that I alternate between. I use the large blade for the lid and typically use the small blade for the pattern unless there's a large piece then I'll use the large blade. It's nice to have two so that I don't have to swap out the blades. One is stuck though and I can't get the blade out so I think I'm going to have to purchase a new one soon.
When it's getting closer to Halloween and I'm carving 4 or 5 large 'kins a day then I'll use the pumpkin gutter attachment with the drill to speed things up a bit. A battery operated head lamp is a must though!
