I suppose I am in the minority here, but I am a bottom cutter. I alternate candles with strings of lights, and like the convenience. I also like the 'untouched' look of the top, and get compliments. I can't tell any difference in longevity. I have some were I also cut in the back (scarecrow) and still can't tell that it makes a difference.

i have seen a couple times where peopel have cut biffer holes through the back i think it gives away to much light ruining the lighting effect i am considering going thro the bottom this year only because i want as much light as possible inside the pumpkin
