Oh for Pete's sake. Some people are just duck bags. That isn't really about ducks, but it is cleaner.

Tough to track and stop all this, but I can try. And will at least seek to get credit for the design. You'll see a few designs like Mario and Sally turning up more than others. Someone removed my logo from those and they've been spreading more than others.

I found another one trying to sell a ZP design today of Walter White. What really bugged me about this was the statement that the pumpkin was carved "100% carved by me!" like the design didn't come from any outside source. There is also a Chewbacca listed as well.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/164291832/ ... pe=gallery" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This time of year I'd much rather have Ryan working on cool stuff for the site, patterns, etc. rather than having to worry about these guys. Is there something specific we should do when we find this kind of stuff? It really gets under my skin. :thumbsdown:

And another shop. https://www.etsy.com/shop/nyghtpet?ref= ... -info-name" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Honestly I really hope that someone would be cautious before buying a pumpkin that's been carved as roughly as these have. I'm a stickler for clean cuts, so I'm surprised that they would sell something that didn't look professional. :?

Yea Know I want to Chime in a Little - because this Kinda really does piss me off.

People Look at me like I'm Obsessed with Recognition, That's Really not the case...

I think if Folks Carve Our Stuff, that we design, they should state where the pattern came from...
Don't get me Wrong, they should not open Stores and sell carvings with-out permission.

People Also do this On Blogs and Facebook, They will post a carving from a sites patterns, Get Kudo's on how talented they are.
and they never Say -I carved the pumpkin but got the pattern/stencil at .................

ALL I'm saying to ALL Carvers, Is Help the Sites you LOVE - Help spread the Word !
I myself Have never Carved a Pattern from another Site, and NOT say where it came from.
To me it's not only the right thing to do, but it's common courtesy.

I'm seeing the Same type Issue with Pumpkin Fest.
They Charge People at the gate like 20 bucks a head. to get in.
Many of the pumpkins carved are from our pattern sites, and they give Us (NO) Recognition at ALL !

So Yea - If you Like / Love our Patterns - Help us Grow - Or Stay in Business .

That's just amazing that someone can take credit for something they clearly didn't design. :thumbsdown:

While I agree that people stealing patterns to sell or give away is terrible (no to mention illegal and immoral) but I think you can get into a slipery slope asking people to credit where they got the stencil from based on FB posts of their carves. To be clear, I do this. On Halloween I wear a Zombie Pumpkin T-shirt and tell folks all the time where I got the patterns from. And I do want to support Ryan and promote his success. I am all abut that. But I don't every time. I don't always post what restaurant made the dish of food porn I posted on FB or give a nod to Betty Crocker for the recipe of killer cookies I made.
I can understand from an artistic sense of pride wanting credit but I paid for the stencil (like I did the meal and Betty Crocker cookbook) so that is really all the credit due. Anything beyond that is just cool to do.

Not trying to start an arguement - just posting a point of view of a guy who paid for the pattern (real cash money, as Ryan wouldn't take my wooden nickels) and spent the time carving it.

For the other d-bags taking your intellectual property and trying to resell or claim they designed, I say sue the heck out of them or the very list get them to take it down.

Wow, good find sodajazz. It hurts to see my original characters like Night Owl and Root of All Evil given away for free. This person may not realize where the designs came from. Looks like they just redrew from pumpkin carving photos. Still, they are designs I drew myself, so it's wrong for it to say "design by someone else." These designs have even been used on products like my shirts and on Stick 'n Carve packaging. Surely designed by ZP not ZQ.

It's hammer time. (okay, I sent them a polite explanatory email asking them to remove my designs).

Shaft, I do agree with you. It's not required that people say where they got the pattern for their pumpkin carving. Surely it's appreciated when people do, since it helps spread the word. But I wouldn't expect most people that do.

The only time I've officially required a "pattern by zombiepumpkins.com" credit is in few cases where the person was going to be selling and profiting from something that used my original art. Rather than charging them a fee for the rights to use the art, I just asked for some credit to help word of mouth.

I do this year round. I wear my ZP apparel as much as possible.

But why people feel the need to pirate stuff like this is just astounding. Why not just use the membership, rather than trying to make a buck off it?
