Those type of inflatable decorations can be hit or miss with me, but the shape and expression of your blow-up mummy is hilarious. The stairs covered in pumpkins are epic. Steps are just a natural display surface for pumpkins, tiered like bleachers. That's a mighty fine porch too, love the sto...

Sounds like you know your trivia about classic Hollywood. As soon as you mentioned the name Jackie Coogan, I recognized the name as the Uncle Fester actor. I do know a bit about The Addams Family and The Munsters. I feel a connection to them... they're just like my real family (but a bit more normal...

Impressive, as always. Some of these have an insane amount of detail. You've done so many carvings, I bet you seek out patterns that will give you new challenges. Do you carve anything that tickles your fancy, or do you try to do patterns to fit certain themes? I do see a lot of classic Hollywood, P...

Maybe I'm a dork, but I love seeing the planning process for Halloween props as much as the final product. The preliminary sketches, schematics and notes... great insight into the process, and a testament to the care and commitment to doing things right. These displays show what's possible with a li...

I understand the itch to carve, for sure. And Chaplin is a good choice. Quite a talented guy! Your carving looks like a photo and does him justice. Stoney, I'm curious... if you were to do the math for all the pumpkins you carve in a year, what percentage would you say are artificial pumpkins, and w...

Adorable photo Mark. The passage of time is evident by how small your son was at the time. Creating Zombie Pumpkins designs (and consequently, celebrating Halloween in a big way) has been part of my life since 2002. And maybe of you have been around for a good portion of that. Lives change, and some...

And I totally get what you're saying about wanting leave some of your own face showing through, so people will recognize that it's you. If you cover up too much, and make it too realistic, it cou...

I mixed up some royal icing to fill in the bones on my gingerdead men. It's mainly a mixture of powdered sugar, egg whites and water. Then I used a pastry bag with a fine tip to flood the impressions with the icing. It spreads naturally to fill in the spaces. Here's a short video about royal icing f...

where did all of our cute pumpkin emojis go??? The fact that a majority of visitors now view this site on mobile devices sort of dictated a change in our old pumpkin "smilies." The previous smilies were created at a low resolution. They were beginning to look small and pixelated on the high resolut...

Ray posted here back in 2008 (wow, has it been a decade already?) and I've traded a couple private messages with him in the past. I'd like to think he has the Zombie Pumpkins name wedged somewhere in the back of his mind. We gourd artists need to stick together. He shares a lot of great photo...

63 patterns onto 54 pumpkins! :surprised: Bravo, Mayor (and helpers)! I do like the arrangement, creating a path for people to walk, as they admire each one. Is there a lot of thought put into the order? It does look like they have some themed grouping. I see a kid-friendly zone in front. Some horro...
