The other day I went to pay a visit to my local HOME DEPOT to see if they'd gotten their annual craft pumpkins in stock yet... Well, they had all of their Halloween merchandise out it looked like. However, no pumpkins. At least not any of the ones they usually carry each year. The only ones they had...

The have a smaller one for $6.99 but it is short and squatty. Would take a specific design to fit it Definitely got some designs that are longer horizontally than they are vertically, which those kind of wider 'kin shapes would be an ideal fit for. I wonder if HOME DEPOT has started putting out the...

It's true! I was at my local Michaels store yesterday and, there they were all piled up sitting in the wire bins. Looks like just the traditional soft Gemmys for both the large 13" and smaller sizes, none of those cheap plastic-y kind they've stocked the last couple years that I have seen. No idea i...

Painting the stem?

Generally I find the stems on these fake foamies, like the Gemmy ones to be.......pretty decent. They replicate the look of a real pumpkin stem or at least try to. But then on some of these other I notice the paint job on them is, kinda lousy. Cheap & tacky, really makes them standout and a dead giv...

There's already a separate topic thread about these ones but thought I'd just add to this one with some nice pics I took of the 12" Gemmy HOME DEPOT brand... https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-KuUgXw3fCAw/VDhArkAjuiI/AAAAAAAAFRg/p0FjcMUImpA/w350-h345-no/HomeAccentsPumpkin_Tag.JPG https://lh4.googleu...

Wow, awesome carve! Thanks! Yeah that one came out really well. I had done it last year when I was just getting started with carving out foamies, though that one was just shaded layers because I had a design on the opposite back side with cut-out shapes. Word-to-the-wise, if you're doing a double-s...

I have 12 pumpkins so far and 1 week until Halloween. Is it possible to do scraped designs now and gut the precious babies closer to Halloween night? That's the way I'm going about it! Figured it would be a wise idea to just scrape away the areas early on, wait until a little closer to the night at...

As far as shading goes, many people have shaded Ryan's patterns instead of cutting all the way through. Some have been inventive and found parts to shade and parts to cut all the way through creating a very unique carving. Hope to see pictures of your work! Aw yeah, I saw his ET example. Very neat!...

Thanks everyone for the warm, pumpkin-scented welcome! :D I must confess one thing though...........that I will likely NOT be using any of the ZP patterns. For you see, starting last year I decided I wanted to do "shaded" patterns that I thought would produce a more rich look and after a succ...
