I beg to differ Wookie....I carved the Stoneykins pattern just a couple of weeks ago. It is magnificent.

No idea on the year or the pattern. I just know that some of my oldest foamkins and a couple of windowkins bear the Zombiepumpkins style.

I don't use the bit to shade per say. I just outline and segment the area. I then use homemade chisels made from screwdrivers to do the shading. I have a bad video showing the technique but it will film a better one next week.

I put a rubbermaid container or 3 behind my display. Fill with water and a couple of capfuls of bleach. Soak over night, every night, and they will last for 2 to 3 weeks. They always come out fresh and plump as the day they were carved.

This works too for a severely wilted kin.
