How do I enter the contest?
Carve one or more of the Zombie Pumpkins! carving designs. You can modify or add to them, but your carvings have to make use of at least one of the patterns offered on this site.
Photograph your carved pumpkin and email it to me. If possible, please resize to 400x300 (or 300x400) pixels. Along with your photo, please include your name and location (for the caption credit).

What could I win?
Most eligible submissions will get the fame and recognition that comes with being part of the Gruesome Galleries.
Winners in the categories of Accuracy, Photography, Creativity, Quantity/Size and Costume will receive:

How will I be judged?
Pumpkin photos will be judged in the following categories:
Accuracy - Clean cuts and a finished piece that closely matches the original pattern are the goal. Use of tools such as a machete or chainsaw might be fun, but won't earn you accuracy points.
Photography - A clear, properly lit photo is ideal. Dim lighting with no camera flash usually looks best. Cell phone cameras won't cut it here. Additional points awarded for use of props, special lighting and a unique setting.
Creativity - This is up to you, but some possible ideas are: Improve or expand on the Zombie Pumpkins! patterns. Create a theme by carving your own original designs, in addition to the Zombie Pumpkins! offerings. Display your carvings in a very unusual location.
Quantity/Size - A yard full of pumpkins is always an eye-catcher. Bring the patterns to a pumpkin carving party! And if you're willing to scoop out the insides of a 100+ pound pumpkin, you will earn the respect of our judges.
Costume - Photograph yourself wearing a Halloween costume
and posing with a matching pumpkin. Your costume should be the same character that's on your pumpkin, or at least fit with the same general theme (i.e. Han Solo with a Chewbacca pumpkin, Alice with a Cheshire Cat pumpkin).
Cream of the Crop - One submission will be named the pumpkin king (or queen) of 2007. This prize will go to the photo submission that embodies all (or many) of the previously mentioned traits.

Honorable mentions might also result in surprise awards, so submit anything you have!
